The bowl is made of maple, a wood appreciated for its ability to produce a balanced, clear and warm sound. Maple allows for beautiful projection and strong tonal definition while preserving excellent roundness in the lower frequencies.
The spruce soundboard brings precision, responsiveness and projection. This traditional tonewood allows the oud to develop a dynamic and expressive voice, perfectly suited to the nuances of Oriental playing.
This model also stands out thanks to its single soundhole configuration, a feature that luthier Khaled Azooz especially appreciates for achieving a very pure and deeply Oriental (“sharki”) sound.
