The Khaled Azooz Alaraf Oud is a learning model inspired by old Egyptian sound aesthetics, designed for musicians looking for a soft, warm and comfortable instrument to play.
Handcrafted in Egypt by the artisans of luthier Khaled Azooz, this oud stands out with its elegant decorated round rosettes, traditional appearance and warm, mellow, relatively intimate sound, reminiscent of the spirit of vintage Egyptian ouds.
This version features a bowl made of padauk and ash, two woods that offer a beautiful balance between warmth, clarity and tonal stability. Padauk brings character, depth and presence to the tone, while ash adds definition and a clearer response.
The spruce top provides musicality, pleasant response under the risha and good precision for everyday practice.
Unlike some modern ouds focused on strong projection, the Alaraf model favors a more intimate and traditional tonal approach. It is particularly well suited for maqam practice, vocal accompaniment and long playing sessions.
Its comfortable neck and smooth action make this instrument very accessible for beginners who want to start in good conditions, while still enjoying a real tonal personality.
The oud comes fitted with professional LaBella strings and includes a lightly padded gig bag.
