The Tarablic Barada II oud is a refined evolution of the original Barada model, designed for musicians seeking a more open and powerful Syrian sound while preserving its traditional depth. Crafted by luthier Khaled Halabi, this model retains the essence of traditional tarablic ouds with a slightly more modern acoustic approach, particularly in terms of projection.
The spruce top provides excellent resonance, delivering a balanced tone with quick response and strong presence.
The walnut and ash bowl brings warmth, roundness and clarity. This wood combination enhances deep bass while maintaining clear and articulate mid frequencies.
Unlike the classic Barada model, this oud features oval soundholes without rosettes. This design allows the sound to open more freely, resulting in greater power and projection while preserving the Syrian tonal identity.
The short walnut fingerboard and ebony pegs ensure comfortable playability and stable tuning.
Khaled Halabi, from a family of Syrian luthiers, now builds his instruments in Canada. He combines Middle Eastern craftsmanship with modern techniques to create reliable and well-finished ouds.
