The Sultan Anka is an advanced-level Arabic oud combining careful craftsmanship, quality tonewoods and a particularly warm sonic personality. It is designed for musicians looking for an expressive, responsive instrument with enough depth and refinement for demanding regular practice.
Its superb purpleheart bowl is one of the defining features of this model. Naturally recognizable by its deep reddish to purplish tones, this wood gives the instrument a distinctive and elegant visual character. The glossy finish beautifully highlights its colour and grain.
The purpleheart bowl is paired with a Canadian red cedar soundboard, a combination that perfectly suits the character of this oud: a deep, warm and full sound, with excellent resonance and very good responsiveness under the risha. Notes develop easily, with enough power and definition to remain clear even in faster melodic passages.
The Sultan Anka also stands out for its refined decorative work. Genuine mother-of-pearl inlays around the soundholes, on the pickguard and throughout the ornamental details give the instrument a more precious appearance while preserving its traditional elegance.
The ebony fingerboard and ebony pegs reinforce the quality of its construction and provide excellent durability. With a 58.5 cm scale length and Arabic C–C tuning, it retains familiar and comfortable proportions for players used to Arabic ouds.
Fitted with Kürschner Premium strings, the Anka offers a particularly coherent overall package: deep tone, fast response and refined finishing. It is an excellent choice for musicians looking for an advanced Arabic oud with a strong visual and tonal identity.
