This electric oud, often called a “silent oud”, is an original and accessible learning model, designed for musicians who want to practice with an amplified instrument that is easy to transport and visually unique. Unlike a traditional acoustic oud, this model does not have a full resonating bowl. Its open body shape greatly reduces the natural acoustic volume when the instrument is not plugged in. It is therefore mainly designed to be used with an amplifier, audio interface or headphones through a suitable system.
The base of the instrument is made of mahogany, a wood appreciated for its stability and warm character. It is fully covered with mother-of-pearl style marquetry, giving this oud a distinctive, luminous and oriental appearance. The result is an instrument with a rare look, both modern, decorative and immediately recognizable.
This model is originally delivered with 9 strings, allowing an Arabic tuning in C, G, D, A, F. Its construction can however support up to 12 strings, offering more possibilities depending on the musician’s preferences and desired tuning.
